Accessibility
Red Lake is accessible from the Trans-Canada Highway 180
Kilometres north of Vermilion Bay on Highway 105. Highways 125
connects Balmertown and Cochenour to Highway 105 and Highway 618
connects Madsen and Starratt-Olsen to Hwy 125.
Surface Transportation
Excel Bus lines offers services from Kenora with passenger and
parcel transportation to and from Red Lake as well as Vermilion
Bay, Kenora and connections for Greyhounds Transcontinental
service. Charter bus transportation is available through a local
operation, Red Lake is accessible by snowmachine via 35,000 kms of
groomed TOPS trails from virtually anywhere in Northwestern
Ontario.

Air Transportation - Red Lake Airport
Red Lake has a 5,000 foot paved airport located at Cochenour,
equipped with landing lights, tiedowns, and aviation fuel. A
terminal building for passengers is located at the airstrip.
Scheduled air service is available through Bearskin Airways to
points east and west. Charters are available from numerous airways
both at the airport and from floatplane bases at Cochenour and Red
Lake.

Air Transportation - Ear Falls Airport
Ear Falls has a 4,000 foot paved airport located 15 kilometres
north of town, equipped with landing lights, tiedowns, aviation
fuel and minor services. A terminal building for passengers is
located at the airstrip. No scheduled air service is
available.

Ferry Service
The Municipality of Red Lake maintains a ferry between the
communities of Cochenour and McKenzie Island on Red Lake. This
service is pay for use and runs seasonally from May to November.
Trips are on the half hour with a 15 minute crossing time. Parking
is available at the Cochenour Dock.
