Population rates within the Red Lake District have remained
fairly stable through the 1980s and into the 1990s Changes in
mining activities in the area have meant a slight decrease in the
areas population in the later 1990s and into 2000.
It is anticipated that renewed vigour at the Goldcorp Inc. Red
Lake Mine will provide for modest increases in the areas permanent
population base. Population structure is dominated by the younger
age groups.
Employment within the district is dominated by primary
industries including mining and forestry. As a district centre the
area also supports a large number of health services and the public
service jobs.
