The Golden Learning Centre is located on Mine Road in Balmertown. This facility was built in 1991 and services kids from kindergarten to grade 8. The school is staffed with 14 full-time teachers, 1 French teacher, 6 education assistants, full-time librarian, secretary as well as a teacher specializing in literacy. The school is also the home of the Balmertown Early Learning Centre, Best Starts Hub, and outdoor skating rink which are run by the Municipality of Red Lake. The school is also home to an Intensive Behavior Intervention program serving students in the community with Autism.
The school also works closely with the community as presentations are conducted by guest speakers from the Ministry of Natural Resources, O.P.P., and Northwestern Health Unit among other community groups.
Extra-curricular activities are also offered at the Golden Learning Centre; some sports include: soccer, curling, cross-country skiing, track and field, basketball, and others. Events such as school dances, bike rodeos, and choir.
Like, the Red Lake Madsen Public School, the Golden Learning Centre also participates in the Breakfast Club program.
