The St. John's Separate School is the only Catholic School in the Red Lake area. The school offers classes for children in kindergarten to grade 8. The school is also equipped with a child care facility which is an added convenience for those dropping off school children. Among being the only Catholic school, St. John's is also the only school in the area which offers a French First Language School.
Although the school is smaller than the two public elementary schools, St. John's offers extracurricular sports to its students such as volleyball, basketball and soccer. These teams compete with Red Lake Madsen Public School and the Golden Learning Centre.
