Red Lake District High School

The Red Lake District High School, located on Young Street, has a population of about 300 students from grades 9 to 12, covering Red Lake Area, including Ear Falls. Here they offer special education and co-operative education programs. The internet system is networked throughout the four schools in the district. This allows video conference classes to be offered as well. The school, built in 1951, has undergone renovations through the years; the last being completed in 2001. The building is well maintained and quite impressive with its ground source heat pump system. The building is wheelchair accessible with wide hallways and spacious lockers, ramps and an elevator.

RLDHS is a well equipped facility offering programs with state of the art technology including a video editing lab, computer operated lathe and router in the Building Construction Shop and the latest in Mitchell software and diagnostic equipment in the large Transportation shop. The school also has an brilliant woodwind and brass program, large family studies room, Subway sandwich counter, three computer labs, and one of the finest gymnasiums in northwest Ontario.

The Red Lake Rams spend their time in this fine gym as they participate in all extracurricular sports! Both male and female teams are offered in ice hockey, curling, cross country running, badminton, soccer, volleyball, basketball and cross country skiing. These teams compete with other schools in the NorWossa league, which includes all high schools west of Thunder Bay. Opportunities to join other clubs such as school band, drama, student council, grad. and prom committees are available.
