Ear Falls

The Township of Ear Falls is governed by a Town Council. The Council is made up of a Mayor and four Councillors. The Reeve and Council are nominated and elected by the total voting public.

Chukuni Communities Development Corporation (C.C.D.C.)

The Mandate of the C.C.D.C. is to generate and maintain permanent employment in the areas of Ear Falls and Red Lake by:
Fostering communication and strong working relationships at both local and regional levels to deal effectively with challenges.
Providing financial and advisory services to improve business competitiveness.
Facilitating training and education to produce a workforce with the skills required by current and developing employers.
Building and equipping a volunteer base dedicated to creating healthy community environments.  The C.C.D.C. has played a significant role in the creation and preservation of at least 800 jobs regionally since 1988.

The office deals with local employment and employment insurance claims and inquiries. As well as labour market information for the area.

The purpose of the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines is to provide services to the residents of Red Lake and the surrounding areas in regard to dealing with the Provincial and Federal Governments.

Located at the Ontario Government Building at 227 Howey Street in Red Lake the Resident Geologist and Mining Recorders Offices provide support to the local mining and mineral exploration industry.  A regional resident geologist and mining lands consultant provide support and technical expertise.

Ministry of Natural Resources

Government Office 227 Howey Street

The MNR manages the natural resources of Ontario through the activities of Area Teams and a philosophy of "sustainable development". Strategies supporting the philosophy include partnerships in resource management, valuing resources and an improved knowledge base.

Ministry of Health - Northwestern Health Unit

Howey Street, Red Lake

The Northwestern Health Unit provides Immunization, Reproductive Health Care Information, Nutritional Information, Foot Care, CNIB Eye Van, Sexual Health/Family Planning, Dental Health, Drug/Alcohol Substance Abuse/Tobacco Use Prevention, Audiology, Physical Activity Promotion, Tuberculosis Control and Speech Pathology. The office is staffed by a Public Health Nurse, whose main responsibility is disease prevention.

Ministry of Community and Social Services, Probation Parole Services

The probation and parole officer is responsible for young offenders over 16 years and adult offenders.

Literacy

Literacy offers assistance to adults wanting to upgrade their Math and English skills up to grade 10. They also assist with other materials also, such as learning English, reading and writing as well as improving your work skills . The program is looking for volunteers to act as tutors.

Ontario Skills

Ontario Skills provides Human Resource planning services to business and industry on a fee for service basis. At present, Ontario Skills delivers Human Resource Development Canada targeted wage subsidy programs and job opportunities for youth. Ontario Skills also acts as a liaison between community agencies in Red Lake and Federal and Provincial agencies located in Kenora.
